Undercliffe Cemetery Trail Why have we developed a Cemetery Trail at Undercliffe? As volunteers at the Undercliffe Cemetery Charity, we have felt for some time that some introductory information was needed on the site itself, in addition to what is available on our website. Undercliffe cemetery was opened in 1854 by the Bradford Cemetery Company. Opened in 1854, our aim is to operate, maintain and preserve Undercliffe Cemetery for the public benefit. William Gay (1814-1893) created the beautiful layout of the cemetery, with the grandeur of its main boulevard and ‘historic core’, and sweeping views over Bradford from the west end.
